Age Integration£ºAn Exploratory Study on the Concept, Philosophical Understanding, and its Impacts - through the perception of experts and literature review

Abstract
This research aims to explore the actual concept, the philosophical understanding of age integration, and its social impacts. Thirty one experts of gerontology were chosen for this study. Data were collected from April 2013 to August 2013. For this purpose, delphi study to examine the perception of experts and literature reviews were both conducted. As a result, the concept of age integration was appeared mutual understanding and respect among various age groups, which was not just for the elderly but for all ages. Age integration was philosophically based on coexistence, social integration and respecting individuals, was appeared to strengthen social solidarity and to enhance intergenerational relationships. For individuals the positive impacts of age integration were revealed to be increasing the opportunity of social participation and autonomy in their own life. The negative impacts were found for older people to remain locked into part time job and there is much possibility of social exclusion for older people with no ability. It is predicted that role expectations as we know it today would not be disappeared even at the age integrated surroundings.
